We booked this hotel quite last minute because we needed a place to stay before we headed to the airport. The prices were very reasonable but the service was great. The people were very kind, professional and friendly. The room was a bit outdated (especially the bathroom) but for the price it was fine. Food in the restaurant was good with good service. We had a good stay here.
Dropped by here for an impromptu Sunday Lunch last week and it was pretty spectacular. Firstly the Sunday lunch is reasonably priced and great value. The food is simply perfect, roast potatoes outstanding and everything cooked amazingly. We actually ended up having starters and desserts because the menu was very tempting. We had calamari and chicken ribs both of which were superb. The calamari was the beat I've ever had including by the sea in the med and Asia. The Brownie and cheesecake desserts were also to die for. I actually can't speak highly enough about the food and we will be back regularly to try the various menus they offer. The atmosphere in the pub was very welcoming and the Owner/Manager or Front of house man on our visit was friendly, helpful and fun. It was reasonably busy even though it was late but did not feel rushed in overcrowded. Its also a nice that I noticed it is dog friendly for future visits. All in all it is a really quality place with outstanding food. Highly recommended for anyone in the area for a bar snack or a full meal. Our compliments to the management and particularly to the chef for the stunning food. We will be back
First impressions place was spotless with a extremely pleasant atmosphere. The staff were 1st class very freindly and helpful. Food was top notch The rooms were great clean and extremely comfortable. As we were leaving before breakfast they made us a takeaway breakfast. We were so impressed with the place we returned for another meal before returning home. This will be my go to place everytime I go to Rutland Water. I cannot recommend this place highly enough. Staff, food, and atmosphere were number 1
A cosy, yet spacious pub in a lovely area. Tucked away right by the pub is a kids play area, should you need it! Being in a rural area the play area is peaceful and surrounded by fields. Bernard is always welcoming and friendly, and I always manage to miss the name of the the young lady behind the bar but she is a real credit to the place - always happy and accommodating! The food here is lovely and well priced, the roast dinner in particular is worth stopping by for (do book a table to save disappointment!). This place continues to get better since Bernard took over.
Visited several times recently and enjoyed our visit every time. Last night we had a family meal after a day out. We had a wonderful evening and were made so welcome from the moment we arrived. We chose to sit in the bar area which was cooler than outside on such a hot day. We had a great choice of drinks and were soon settled at our table. No rush to choose our food and there was a great selection on the menu to choose from. 3 of our group of 7 had starters, we all chose different starters and all were fantastic. Same with the main courses we all had different but everything was perfect, just like the service. 3 managed desserts and again empty plates and smiles all round. Great choice of food, really good portions and good prices . Definitely a place to visit for great food, drink, service and atmosphere . Cannot recommend highly enough. Thank you all for a wonderful evening .
I visited this lovely little restaurant on a Sunday and was thoroughly impressed. From the moment I walked in, the staff made me feel right at home—friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. It’s clear they care about creating a great experience for every guest. I started with a small plate of calamari, which was light, crisp, and a nice way to begin the meal. But the real highlight was the three meat Sunday dinner. The roast pork, beef, and turkey were all tender, juicy, and full of flavor. The roast potatoes were perfectly crisp, and the seasonal vegetables were cooked just right. Everything was brought together with a rich, savory gravy that made the whole dish incredibly satisfying. With its cozy atmosphere, delicious food, and lovely staff, this restaurant is a real gem. I’ll definitely be coming back!
